The Defining Issue of Our Age
Republicans, democrats, conservatives and liberals. Sometimes it seems like the people of this country are so divided that a chance of really uniting under a common cause that will benefit everyone seems impossible. I have felt the frustration I’m sure many of you feel when listening to the radio, or reading the news, or watching C-Span that the people in charge seem to be more concerned about keeping their jobs and supporting the status quo. Why does this cycle keep continuing? Why do those who go to Washington attempting to clean up the mess report back to us with the news that it’s actually a hot tub, proceed to give more of our rights away for political clout, and immediately focus on staying in office?
Despite the infinite bureaucracy that we have allowed to be constructed around our lives, and the pointless political theater that we are flooded with every week, I contend that there is a simple answer to the questions I have posed. To find this answer we should try to find a common thread, and when we find this thread we can pull it and begin to unravel the mess of corruption plaguing our country.
The issue I think about everyday is money, and it’s for good reason, we are a country of business people be it the farmer selling his excess crops or the factory worker trying to negotiate better terms for the mortgage on his house. Our country has a history of business innovation that I believe has a direct correlation to the prosperity our country has seen. This line of thinking leads me to one last question; Why is it that the people of this country seem to get more and more in debt, when our farms are still incrediblly producing more food than our country can consume, and our scientists and technology grant us the ability to adapt to changing demand in markets? Why does the finish line (no debt) keep getting moved when we approach it?
It is designed to be that way.
The central bank of this country, the Federal Reserve (and I use “of this country” loosely) is not federal in the slightest. This bank has no stake in the well being of the people it prints money for, and exists to make profit just like any other private business on Earth. This bank currently exercises complete monetary control over this country. They control how much money is in circulation and thus can control if the market booms or busts. This bank needs to be nationalized, with control given to the people, elected by direct representation. If the people of this country who aren’t rich (over 90 percent as we all know) could dictate monetary policy, this country would be a vastly different place.
How do we enact this change? Old rules do apply, call your congressperson, and tell them that you support a monetary policy in this country that is dictated by the people not private investors. The politicians who do not want to see the Federal Reserve abolished need to be either reeducated in the real power structure of the country or voted out of office. They do have powerful men breathing down their backs, possibly threatening them with losing office or power if they fight back, but we must let them know that these are only threats and their obligation is to us, not to those who create the money. It’s simple if you turn it around. If politicians always follow the money, then it stands to reason that the only way the poor and the vanishing middle class can enact the change we really want, is to control the money they want. Right now they follow the lead of the banks, if we can control the money, they will follow our lead.
I believe we can fight about abortion later, I believe we can fight about gay rights later. Now we must wrench control back to the people, and when power is back with us, we can legislate on these things WITHOUT the influence of private bankers.
This essay is not for republicans, and it’s not for democrats either, these political associations only serve to carve up the mindset of the people and distract us from the real problem. If we are always fighting each other, then the job of the Fed is already done. We can agree on this. We must break free from the shackles of money, we can’t see it as something we are always scrounging to get, and it must be seen as a tool to make trade and commerce easier. As it stands now money is our master and this must not stand. This is not to say we abolish money, but it is to say that we must abolish the monetary policy as it stands.
This country was designed to be hard to change, and yet it has. This is because the money power have been fighting to change it since it was created. If we can fight as hard as they do, they don't have a chance.
Things to consider:
The role of the government to issue money
Colonial Scrip
Greenbacks
The legality and treasonous actions of the Federal Reserve
JFK's executive order 11110
