Betty Ayleene Stoots, 77 --- Otero County Pioneer Family
Betty Ayleene Stoots, a lifelong Otero County resident, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010 at her home.
She was born April 27, 1932 in High Rolls, NM. She married Junior Lee Stoots on July 4, 1964 in Carrizozo, NM. She has served her community in many ways.
Betty was the past President of the Otero County Cow Belles, People for the West and People for Otero County. She was also the Legislative Secretary for the Republican Women of Otero County and passionately involved in Constitutional rights issues.
Betty Stoots is survived by her husband, Junior Lee Stoots of the family home; son Jim Trice and his wife Sherri of Islamorada, FL; sister, Martha Jean Coody and husband, Jim of Barry, TX; two sister-in-laws, Joyce Talent and Wanda Newman; three grandchildren, Lee Trice, Dustin Trice and Danielle Trice; one cousin, Carol Wood; nephews Jesse Coody and David Coody; niece Kathy Lindsey; three great nieces, Sue Gregory, Paige Coody, and Stephanie Lindsey and two great nephews, Jace and Doss Coody. She had numerous friends, to include; G.B. Oliver III, Mike Haymes, Jimmy Goss, Ellis Neel and Leroy Lewis and Sisters in Christ, Estelle Moser, Yvonne Oliver, Sassy Tingling, Jean Vallance and Frances Goss.
Honorary Pallbearers will be John Oliver, Carl Vallance, Melvin Lester, Mike Shinabery, Bobby Jones and Jim Coody.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel with Ronny Rardin officiating. There will be a reception held at the Saving Grace Church, 49 K.C. Road immediately after the memorial.
Her youngest son, Dan Alan Trice and her parents Wilson and Susie Mae Bennett preceded her in death.
Should friend’s desire donate a contribution in lieu of flowers, Betty wished for contributions be to made to the Paragon Foundation or the Alamogordo Home Care/Hospice in her name. Donations may be sent to the Alamogordo Funeral Home, 2301 First Street, Alamogordo, NM 88310.
