Op Ed article in Albuquerque Journal April 10, 2009 by Kathleen Parker, Syndicated Writer.
Selected Quotes Only.
Suffice to say, there is usually much talk of sabers. missiles and such.
"Speak softly and carry a big stick," was how Teddy Roosevelt framed his foreign policy.
Thus evaluating Barack Obama's first European tour as president, analysts have focused on whether he was quite manly enough.
Columnists asked whether Obama should have "grabbed an opportunity ..to demonstrate his toughness, showing his saber as well as his smile.
Verily, spoken like men.
What they're really asking is: Did Obama do justice to the fire hydrant?"
In what may prove to be an epochal development, Obama seems to have his under control. He doesn't strut, swagger or flex. He doesn't even notice the hydrant.
If George Bush was a cowboy, Obama is a group hug.
He says we should show leadership by listening. That we should show humility. This is, of course pure porn for women, But unfortunately, women don't rule the world.
Men still do and we have to worry whether Obama will be viewed as weak and the U.S. therefore, vulnerable.
We now know that he is without qualm when he finds it necessary to fire corporate chiefs. But will he be as bold when rogue nations strap on their Speedos and display their missilery, as North Korea just did?
John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations said the president's "hand-wringing" which is a polite way of saying Obama is "girly".
A man who listens may be perceived as weak by those who prefer to talk big. But playground wisdom holds that showoffs are usually overcompensating, and the strongest one has nothing to prove.
To answer the original question: When you're the big dog, you can afford to smile. . The saber is understood.

Now ask yourself did this new variant of avian/human and swine flu originate in Mexico? If not, how did it get there?
Bloomberg has an interesting story that includes President Obama (now known for his creepy handshakes and bows) meeting a man in Mexico who died within 24 hours:
The first case was seen in Mexico on April 13. The outbreak coincided with the President Barack Obama’s trip to Mexico City on April 16. Obama was received at Mexico’s anthropology museum in Mexico City by Felipe Solis, a distinguished archeologist who died the following day from symptoms similar to flu, Reforma newspaper reported. The newspaper didn’t confirm if Solis had swine flu or not....

I have placed one round of calls to voice my opposition to Arms Trafficking Treaty and will do it again Monday, Tuesday, etc., until it is passed or our employees get the message. There is plenty of information on our front page to get you started and believe me, the staffers that answer the phone have no idea about any specifics so just tell them you are vehemently opposed, give you zip code and asked to be transferred to the other senator or representatives. All of this takes maybe two to three minutes and costs you nothing unlike the treaty they are shoving ahead.
I have found two websites that are new to me and I have put them in my favorites:
http://www.manhattan-institute.org/ "Manhattan Institute is a think tank whose mission is to develop and disseminate new ideas that foster greater economic choice and individual responsibility." Their range of topics is impressive.
Manhattan Institute publishes an online magazine where I found this:
Bound to Burn by Peter W. Huber
Humanity will keep spewing carbon into the atmosphere, but good policy can help sink it back into the earth.
Cheap coal, like that extracted from this Chinese mine, is essential to the developing world’s economic growth.
Like medieval priests, today’s carbon brokers will sell you an indulgence that forgives your carbon sins. It will run you about $500 for 5 tons of forgiveness—about how much the typical American needs every year. Or about $2,000 a year for a typical four-person household. Your broker will spend the money on such things as reducing methane emissions from hog farms in Brazil.
But if you really want to make a difference, you must send a check large enough to forgive the carbon emitted by four poor Brazilian households, too—because they’re not going to do it themselves. To cover all five households, then, send $4,000....
The second find is one that is indispensable when dealing with radical greenies and it is just plain fun, educational reading:

What We're Up Against
Islamic extremists have proclaimed jihad against Christians, Jews, non-Muslims and secularists - simply because they regard us as infidels.
The warriors of Islamofascism are not only "over there". Tens of thousands of Islamic militants now reside in America, operating in sleeper cells, attending our colleges and universities, even infiltrating our government. They are here - today. Many have been here for years. Waiting. Preparing.
They are being aided and abetted by the purveyors of political correctness - those in government, the media, academia and Hollywood who are apologists for Islamofascism, who outrageously blame America for the cruel and brutal actions of those who want to kill us and destroy our way of life.
Political correctness can be annoying, frustrating, even exasperating. In the battle against Islamofascism, political correctness will literally kill us.

Republican Women of Otero County hosted this year’s Taxpayer’s Bawl in conjunction with the first ever TEA Party on Tuesday, April 14th at the Civic Center on First and Florida. TEA is an acronym for “Taxed Enough Already.” These TEA Parties were held all over the country on Tax Day, but ours was to accommodate our church-going folks so they wouldn’t have to miss either one.
Over one hundred people attended the rally outside, carrying posters they’d made. We protested outside while people drove by honking their horns in support. The event lasted just thirty minutes, and then we proceeded inside for the Bawl.
Joe Loya, father-in-law of former Border Patrol Agent Ignacio Ramos came up from El Paso as our guest speaker. He spoke for 30 minutes giving factual details the mainstream media has avoided.
Attendees wrote short notes on and signed long sheets of butcher paper to be sent to the President, Udall, Teague and Bingaman.
Three short videos were shown: Bob Basso as Thomas Paine in “We The People,” the video “Born Again American” and finally Lee Greenwood singing the song he’s most famous for, “God Bless the USA.”
During the Bawl, American Veterans were asked to stand and were saluted with a glass of tea and overwhelming applause.
The local GOP chairman and her executive board members were introduced.
Excited folks from every corner of Otero County were clamoring for more. Don Omey, director of the two Tax Day TEA Parties, has said our next TEA Party will be in November with another scheduled for next April 15th.
Stay tuned for more. We’re considering ways to make this effort more worthwhile.

“The White House says the president is unaware of the tea parties and will hold his own event today,” ABC’s Dan Harris said on “Good Morning America” on April 15."
The Obama administration and its agents don't like criticism. The embarrassing news coverage across the nation, by pro-Obama propaganda dupes portray the Tea Party movement as a right-wing, Conservative attempt to obstruct Glorious Leader's policies. In Denver participants at the Tea Party held at the State Capital witnessed usurpers wearing bandannas covering their faces and hoodies, shouting into a bullhorn attempt to get the crowd to pickup an 'impeach Obama' chant. The Obama plants were quickly shouted down and told to knock it off. The more the media and this administration react to the Tea Party movement as a Conservative agenda to sabotage this president's polices, the more proof that this administration can't handle opposition and will manipulate the media and the truth.
One guy from an organization named PROGRESS ACTION, a pro-Obama group, attempted to start a fight with Tea Party participants and was escorted away by the Colorado State Police. Where was Homeland Security and why didn't they flag this guy before he could attempt to incite violence and home-grown terrorism? Other participants at the Denver Tea Party reported being spit on by individuals cursing and accusing the Tea Party of being an anti-Obama rally.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TURNING CITIZENS INTO CRIMINALS

As the price of cigarettes rises -- in the New York City metropolitan area they now cost nearly $10.00 per pack or about $100.00 for a carton of ten packs -- and there are more and more government programs aimed at controlling sale and use, the US and state governments are creating a new organized crime enterprise.
For example, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives New York office last Thursday arrested two suspects who purchased untaxed cigarettes from undercover ATF agents while also selling the agents counterfeit New York State/City Tax Stamps...http://www.newswithviews.com/NWV-News/news138.htm

"The name “Easter” has its roots in ancient polytheistic religions (paganism). On this, all scholars agree. This name is never used in the original Scriptures, nor is it ever associated biblically with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. For these reasons, we prefer to use the term “Resurrection Sunday” rather than “Easter” when referring to the annual Christian remembrance of Christ's resurrection."
Also in the article:
"Babel was the origin of an idolatrous system that swept the world. The Bible says of her, “Babylon… the nations drank her wine; Therefore the nations are deranged” (Jeremiah 51:7). The Bible often speaks of the Satanic religions which came from her. The ancient Greek historian Herodotus "witnessed the Mystery religion and its rites in numerous countries and mentions how Babylon was the primeval source from which ALL systems of idolatry flowed. Austen Layard said “that we have the united testimony of sacred and profane history that idolatry originated in the area of Babylonia - the most ancient of religious systems.”"

NASA: Clean-air regs, not CO2, are melting the ice cap
New research from NASA suggests that the Arctic warming trend seen in recent decades has indeed resulted from human activities: but not, as is widely assumed at present, those leading to carbon dioxide emissions. Will bill give Obama control of Internet?
Proposed new powers called 'drastic federal intervention'
..."Senate bills No. 773 and 778, introduced by Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.V. [also Olympia Snow], are both part of what's being called the Cybersecurity Act of 2009, which would create a new Office of the National Cybersecurity Advisor, reportable directly to the president and charged with defending the country from cyber attack....
"The whole thing smells bad to me," writes Larry Seltzer in eWeek, an Internet and print news source on technology issues. "I don't like the chances of the government improving this situation by taking it over generally, and I definitely don't like the idea of politicizing this authority by putting it in the direct control of the president."...
Should Obama Control the Internet?
A new bill would give the President emergency authority to halt web traffic and access private data.
"...The Cybersecurity Act of 2009 (PDF) gives the president the ability to "declare a cybersecurity emergency" and shut down or limit Internet traffic in any "critical" information network "in the interest of national security." The bill does not define a critical information network or a cybersecurity emergency. That definition would be left to the president.
The bill does not only add to the power of the president. It also grants the Secretary of Commerce "access to all relevant data concerning [critical] networks without regard to any provision of law, regulation, rule, or policy restricting such access." This means he or she can monitor or access any data on private or public networks without regard to privacy laws...."

Congress passes $3.5 trillion budget in the dark
“The practical implications of this budget are that we will put in place
spending and borrowing which will absolutely put this country on an
unsustainable path and WILL create massive problems for us in the out years if
it’s followed,” said ranking Senate Budget Committee member Judd Gregg
• President Bush began a string of expensive financial bailouts. President Obama is accelerating that course.
What does this mean for the average taxpayer?
Before the recession, federal spending totaled $24,000 per U.S. household. Obama’s budget would increase it to $32,000 per household by 2019—an inflation-adjusted $8,000-per-household expansion of government. And while your taxes will be raised to pay for it, no livable level of taxation would be able to pay for this increase in spending.
Summers Earned Millions in D.E. Shaw Salary, Bank Speech Fees
By Timothy J. Burger and Kristin Jensen
April 4 (Bloomberg) -- Lawrence Summers, director of President Barack Obama’s National Economic Council, earned millions working at a hedge fund and speaking to banks such as Citigroup Inc. that later received taxpayer bailout money....
The disclosure statement for Summers and several other top administration officials illustrates the quandary Obama and his predecessors have faced in their personnel decisions because “powerful people are almost always also rich people” who have earned money from private interests, said Steffen Schmidt, a political science professor at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
Obama’s “choice going forward is to choose unknowns of modest means who may be less controversial in terms of their connections,” Schmidt said. “Except those people would be far less knowledgeable and thus less of an asset to fix these very same urgent problems.” ...
The White House also released the personal financial disclosure forms of other top White House officials yesterday.
