Democratic Presidential candidate Barrack Obama told an audience in Los Angeles to loose weight to help save the planet. Speaking at a scheduled campaign stop before departing on a flight to Hawaii, Obama urged obese Americans to shed the extra pounds to lessen their carbon footprint. The occasionally ‘green candidate’ said vehicles must use more fuel to carry heavier passengers. Americans could lessen their negative impact on the planet by throwing away less packaging from food purchased, thus reducing loads on garbage trucks and landfills across the nation. “Americans should spend more time walking in the park than sitting in front of their T.V. eating junk food,” Obama told supporters on Thursday. His remarks come a week after he encouraged Americans to check the air pressure in their tires in an effort to reduce fuel consumption across the nation. The 46 year-old, first black presidential candidate is leading Republican nominee, John McCain in the polls by 1%. When asked by reporters about Obama’s remarks about obese Americans, McCain responded, “You’re kidding. What an idiot.”
