In the right columm, opposite posts, is a link to read Obama's Global Proverty Act.
I have read both versions of the proposed legislation.
1. This bill will not help the poor of the world. Remember "Oil for Food" scandal? Tell me one thing the U.N. has succeeded in other than talking our politicians into footing the bill for their scams. Former Ambassador to the U.N.,John Bolton has some choice words for the U.N.

2. Charity for the needy is a bedrock principle of most Americans. I am totally opposed to legislating "morality". When you really think about it, it is no longer charitable, an act of giving, when it is imposed by law. This fundamentally removes the rewards and joys of giving further depriving us of the opportunity and blessings of helping our fellow man.
3. The Global Provery Act is a back door entry for gun control. Knowing that direct assaults on the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the individual right to keep and bear arms, would not be popular with U.S. citizens, globalists are attempting and end around with the Millennium Declaration. Here is an outline and where small arms become subject to regional disarmament:
I. Values and principles
II. Peace, security and disarmament
• To take concerted action to end illicit traffic in small arms and light weapons, especially by making arms transfers more transparent and supporting regional disarmament measures, taking account of all the recommendations of the forthcoming United Nations Conference on Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons.
III. Development and poverty eradication
IV. Protecting our common environment
V. Human rights, democracy and good governance
VI. Protecting the vulnerable
VII. Meeting the special needs of Africa
VIII. Strengthening the United Nations
