When I can't sleep I listen to the radio trying to get information about the world around me.
For a couple of years everytime I heard mention of the military my ears perked up. Now, the state of our nation and the economy in particular is of special interest to me. Since Alamogordo Times has been broadcasting the ADPS scanner I have been leaving it on. I have become aware of the work conditions of police officers and their lingo. I don't take the service they provide for granted anymore.
What has occurred to me is that I am hungry for information, a social creature. What also dawned on me its that the old saying "ignorance is bliss" holds true today.
While most of us sleep, eat, read, work, just generally go about our lives, there are people out there that make all this normalcy possible. I am grateful for our service members. I am grateful for outspoken critics of the status quo. I am grateful for dedicated peace officers. I am grateful to brave, inquisitive souls who want to know the truth.
The great thing about truly being grateful is that it fills your life with abundance and the glass is always half full.
