Opponents, including some signing a petition OVER 1200 SIGNATURES WERE OBTAINED presented to county commissioners before their Aug. 23 vote,...
Quoting Cliff Spencer,"...The Congressional Research Service, that did the impartial report, does not own a dog in this fight. If that is good enough for Congress, it should be good enough for you."FOLLOWED BY BOOS AND HISSES FROM THE COMMISSION CHAMBERS.
... In a Sept. 11 letter send by the Park Service to Dr. Martin Moore, Otero County administrator, the Park Service stated that "at this stage, based on the merits of the site and the strong support it received, other than from Otero County, White Sands National Monument has been recommended by NPS staff experts for inclusion on the new Tentative List."UNMITIGATED ARROGANCE. WHO WILL STOP THE BUREAUCRATS?
Comments about the sites... are due Feb. 1.TIME TO TURN UP THE HEAT.
Along with WSNM, also being recommended for inclusion are Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona... CLIFF SPENCER'S NEW JOB, SUPERINTENDENT OF PETRIFIED FOREST.
