National Heritage Site or World Heritage Site, What is the Difference?

I haven't addressed National Heritage Sites because we have our hands full here in Otero County with World Heritage Sites. But now would be a good time to point out the differences:

National Heritage Sites are a gigantic land grab.

World Heritage Sites are a colossal land grab.

Inherent in both programs is the removal of land use decisions from the local level to national and world levels. Accompanying the lack of control over what occurs in your neighborhood is the adjudication of disputes in federal and international courts.

THE WORLD AS WE VIEW IT IS CHANGING

The way we view TV and movies at home is changing. Soon we will be watching enhanced visuals of our favorite TV sitcoms, weekly episodes, news and DVD movies on a new format. In Feburary of 2009 broadcast TV signals will be switching to HD TV signals. The old antenna/rabbit ears method of capturing broadcast TV signals out of the atmosphere will no longer work for non-cable/satellite viewers. Viewers will have to buy a new HDTV technology, capable of picking the new HD broadcast signal or be forced to buy a converter to pick up the new signal. Those unfortunate souls who cannot afford the new technology will simply be deprived of watching broadcast TV. This could have serious consequences on the American economy and the culture of Jerry Springer adherents and non-working Americans. Viewers who rely on broadcast TV to watch their 3AM community college courses on public TV will be immediately kicked out of ‘class’. Nor will they be able to watch morning shows, soaps, cartoons, American Idol or their favorite gritty crime series. What we will have is another segment of the population disenfranchised from the media blitz of how horrible their lives are; thanks to Bush and the anti-UN crowd. These people rely on their TVs for accurate and empathetic news and information for their perception of world affairs. To be honest we’re talking about American coinsures of day time and prime time TV! Such commitment to an art should not be threatened because of technological advances. Or should it? Anybody know what the average number of hours sitting in front of a TV is for the stay at home non-working American is?

Americans who subscribe to cable or satellite services already receive much of their programming in HDTV. They won’t be affected by the transition in 2009. But don’t despair! In February, 2009 the federal government will be mailing out $140 million in checks to Americans who can’t afford the new HD technology. The average check will be $40, meant to offset the cost of the converter box which costs about $60. There are those enlightened critics of this attempt to bridge the HDTV gap who complain its going to be an inconvenience for poor people to shop for a converter box they can afford and then hook it up to their TV. I do remember the complexities I encountered hooking up rabbit ears to my RCA back in the 70’s. Critics suggest the government should just buy new HDTV television sets for poor people. I could expand on this suggestion. Why doesn’t the federal government subscribe to NetFlix for these people, buy DVD players for them and have chips and dip delivered in time for Judge Judy? In British Columbia non-working Canadians without bank accounts will be receiving debit cards every month. This new program will eliminate the embarrassing ordeal of having to cash a government check at some sleazy check cashing joint and alleviate long lines on Friday afternoons at the customer service counter at the super market. We already have something similar to this in the U.S. for recipients of government entitlements. I imagine the gap between HDTV viewers and non-working Americans will be short lived.

Now comes the advent of Blu-Ray technology. Blue-Ray movie discs will replace HD DVD and the current crop of DVD’s on the shelves in Wal Mart and other stores in the U.S. Blu-Ray discs hold 25GB of storage on a single side disc and a whopping 50GB of your favorite gratuitous sex and violence on a double sided disc. Compare this to the paltry 15GB of storage on an HD DVD.

Blu-Ray DVD players are on the market now. The new machines are going for $1000-$1500 off the shelf. HD DVD players hit the market late last year at an average price of $500 a machine. How will we accommodate the Blu-Ray gap in the future? I think in all fairness our government should be dropping leaflets and broadcasting Spanish language announcements over loud speakers on the U.S./Mexican border. ‘YOU MUST HAVE ACCESS TO BLU-RAY DVD PLAYERS AND HDTV TO WATCH TV AND MOVIES IN THIS COUNTRY!’ We should at least give those northern migration pilgrims seeking only to improve their quality of life a fair warning; the new technology is here to stay in the United States.

For those of you who indulge in conspiracy, here is the hidden agenda of Blu-Ray. The United Nations is secretly beaming a mind-control signal from each Blu-Ray player into your home. The secret signal contains a message to accept globalist control and advocate for World Heritage Site designation of your premise. Wrapping your head in foil will not protect you from this covert, hidden signal. You have to wear red-sunglasses while viewing your favorite movie and sit on paper towels soaked in Falstaff beer to become immune to the U.N. brainwashing device in your Blu-Ray DVD player.

In election 2008, don’t forget Angry White Man

There is a great amount of interest in this year’s presidential elections, as everybody seems to recognize that our next president has to be a lot better than George Bush. The Democrats are riding high with two groundbreaking candidates — a woman and an African-American — while the conservative Republicans are in a quandary about their party’s nod to a quasi-liberal maverick, John McCain.

Each candidate is carefully pandering to a smorgasbord of special-interest groups, ranging from gay, lesbian and transgender people to children of illegal immigrants to working mothers to evangelical Christians.

There is one group no one has recognized, and it is the group that will decide the election: the Angry White Man. The Angry White Man comes from all economic backgrounds, from dirt-poor to filthy rich. He represents all geographic areas in America, from urban sophisticate to rural redneck, deep South to mountain West, left Coast to Eastern Seaboard.

His common traits are that he isn’t looking for anything from anyone — just the promise to be able to make his own way on a level playing field. In many cases, he is an independent businessman and employs several people. He pays more than his share of taxes and works hard.

The victimhood syndrome buzzwords — “disenfranchised,” “marginalized” and “voiceless” — don’t resonate with him. “Press ‘one’ for English” is a curse-word to him. He’s used to picking up the tab, whether it’s the company Christmas party, three sets of braces, three college educations or a beautiful wedding.

He believes the Constitution is to be interpreted literally, not as a “living document” open to the whims and vagaries of a panel of judges who have never worked an honest day in their lives.

The Angry White Man owns firearms, and he’s willing to pick up a gun to defend his home and his country. He is willing to lay down his life to defend the freedom and safety of others, and the thought of killing someone who needs killing really doesn’t bother him.

The Angry White Man is not a metrosexual, a homosexual or a victim. Nobody like him drowned in Hurricane Katrina — he got his people together and got the hell out, then went back in to rescue those too helpless and stupid to help themselves, often as a police officer, a National Guard soldier or a volunteer firefighter.

His last name and religion don’t matter. His background might be Italian, English, Polish, German, Slavic, Irish, or Russian, and he might have Cherokee, Mexican, or Puerto Rican mixed in, but he considers himself a white American.

He’s a man’s man, the kind of guy who likes to play poker, watch football, hunt white-tailed deer, call turkeys, play golf, spend a few bucks at a strip club once in a blue moon, change his own oil and build things. He coaches baseball, soccer and football teams and doesn’t ask for a penny. He’s the kind of guy who can put an addition on his house with a couple of friends, drill an oil well, weld a new bumper for his truck, design a factory and publish books. He can fill a train with 100,000 tons of coal and get it to the power plant on time so that you keep the lights on and never know what it took to flip that light switch.

Women either love him or hate him, but they know he’s a man, not a dishrag. If they’re looking for someone to walk all over, they’ve got the wrong guy. He stands up straight, opens doors for women and says “Yes, sir” and “No, ma’am.”

He might be a Republican and he might be a Democrat; he might be a Libertarian or a Green. He knows that his wife is more emotional than rational, and he guides the family in a rational manner.

He’s not a racist, but he is annoyed and disappointed when people of certain backgrounds exhibit behavior that typifies the worst stereotypes of their race. He’s willing to give everybody a fair chance if they work hard, play by the rules and learn English.

Most important, the Angry White Man is pissed off. When his job site becomes flooded with illegal workers who don’t pay taxes and his wages drop like a stone, he gets righteously angry. When his job gets shipped overseas, and he has to speak to some incomprehensible idiot in India for tech support, he simmers. When Al Sharpton comes on TV, leading some rally for reparations for slavery or some such nonsense, he bites his tongue and he remembers. When a child gets charged with carrying a concealed weapon for mistakenly bringing a penknife to school, he takes note of who the local idiots are in education and law enforcement.

He also votes, and the Angry White Man loathes Hillary Clinton. Her voice reminds him of a shovel scraping a rock. He recoils at the mere sight of her on television. Her very image disgusts him, and he cannot fathom why anyone would want her as their leader. It’s not that she is a woman. It’s that she is who she is. It’s the liberal victim groups she panders to, the “poor me” attitude that she represents, her inability to give a straight answer to an honest question, his tax dollars that she wants to give to people who refuse to do anything for themselves.

There are many millions of Angry White Men. Four million Angry White Men are members of the National Rifle Association, and all of them will vote against Hillary Clinton, just as the great majority of them voted for George Bush.

He hopes that she will be the Democratic nominee for president in 2008, and he will make sure that she gets beaten like a drum.

The word shill comes to mind as a response to this article. However, their is a grain of truth here. JW

As Sen. John McCain assumes the GOP front-runner mantle, his long-standing, but little-noticed association with donors such as George Soros and Teresa Heinz Kerry is receiving new attention among his Republican critics.

In 2001, McCain founded the Alexandria, Va.-based Reform Institute as a vehicle to receive funding from George Soros' Open Society Institute and Teresa Heinz Kerry's Tides Foundation and several other prominent non-profit organizations.

McCain used the institute to promote his political agenda and provide compensation to key campaign operatives between elections.

In 2006, the Arizona senator was forced to sever his formal ties with the Reform Institute after a controversial $200,000 contribution from Cablevision came to light. McCain solicited the donation for the Reform Institute using his membership on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. In a letter to the Federal Communications Commission, he supported Cablevision's push to introduce the more profitable al la carte pricing, rather than packages of TV programming.

Yet, the Reform Institute still employs the McCain campaign's Hispanic outreach director, Juan Hernandez, as a senior fellow of its Comprehensive Immigration Reform Initiative.

As WND reported, Hernandez serves as a non-paid volunteer for the McCain campaign. A dual Mexican-U.S. citizen, he was a member of former President Vicente Fox's cabinet, representing an estimate 24 million Mexicans living abroad. Hernandez, with a "Mexico first" message, has argued aggressively against building a fence on the Mexican border, insisting the frontier needed to remain wide open so illegal immigrants could easily enter the U.S.

ALAMOGORDO, NM: PARAGON Foundation Executive Director, GB Oliver announced the Foundation’s filing of an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in support of a court of appeals ruling regarding the case – District of Columbia v. Heller. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the case, which is shaping up to be a landmark case regarding the meaning and application of the Second Amendment.



On March 9, 2007, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit marked the first time that a federal appellate court used the second amendment to invalidate a gun-control regulation. In response, the District of Columbia has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to resurrect a city ordinance containing the firearms ban, which also requires owners to secure rifles and shotguns with trigger locks or keep them disassembled. Opponents to the D.C. ban allege the ban prohibits a citizen within the District from having a firearm for self-defense within one’s home, and is an unconstitutional violation of the Second Amendment. The simplicity of the wording of the Second Amendment, which contains only 27 words, continues to be a source of endless debate, “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”



In its amicus filing, PARAGON’s counsel Paul Kienzle argues, “ ‘The Right of the People,’ to keep and bear arms existed before the formation of any government and exists not because of the government but is preserved by it … The Second Amendment must be interpreted in conjunction with the historical use of firearms by individuals for self-defense, hunting and other practical purposes.” Good public policy is squarely in favor of an individual right to keep and bear arms. Quoting a memorable line from Louis L’Amour’s novel, Heller with a Gun, “[o]ut here a gun is a tool. Men use them when they have to . . . Where there’s no law, all the strength can’t be left in the hands of the lawless, so good men use guns, too.”

It seeks to eliminate extreme poverty by:

Declaring it official U.S. policy to promote the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the U.N. Millennium Development Goal of cutting extreme global poverty in half by 2015.

Requiring the president to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to carry out that policy. Including guidelines for what the strategy should include — from aid, trade, and debt relief, to working with the international community, businesses and NGOs, to ensuring environmental sustainability.

Requiring that the president’s strategy include specific and measurable goals, efforts to be undertaken, benchmarks, and timetables.

Requiring the president to report back to Congress annually on progress made in the implementation of the global poverty strategy.

Illegal immigration not the real issue

When former Mexican President Vicente Fox made his first state visit to the United States and the White House, it's rumored that one of the first things he did was demand the return to Mexico the states of Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, California and Nevada.

It's my understanding that every time President Bush eats a burrito he still gets a good laugh out of that one. Upon his return to Mexico, President Fox created a cabinet position entitled Ministry of Affairs in Azatlan. What? We've been invaded by animals from Narnia and no one bothered to tell us?

And what right does a foreign president have in creating a ministry to attend to the affairs of illegal aliens from his country? One of the ministry's apparent responsibilities is to ensure the safety and well-being of those crossing the border. You know, make sure that they have enough food, water, maps and clear directions to rest areas set up by sympathizers on this side of the border. Someone care to tell me what's wrong with this picture?

With the current political climate, it seems that one issue we haven't heard a lot about, with the exception of candidate Ron Paul, is that of illegal immigration. For some reason, it is not being openly discussed, with the exception

of Hillary saying that "they are necessary to our economy", or words to that effect. The problem is, while it can't be ignored, it also can't be discussed in an open and logical fashion because of the emotional connotations that the issue has taken on since 9/11. Even then, we aren't exactly sure what those connotations are.
The majority of the illegal immigrants who come across our southern borders are Mexican nationals seeking employment. One of the many arguments that we have heard is that these illegals are the ones who steal our services, our Social Security and are the cause for our loss of industry through such things as NAFTA. It really doesn't matter if the facts are mixed-up or true, that's what people want to believe.

I honestly don't believe that illegal immigration is an issue. Oh, it may be one for you and me, but I don't think that it really is one for our government, despite what they say or would have us believe.

We all know and realized a long time ago that one of the principle underlying issues of our border security is that of possible invasion by terrorists. Simply put, if an illegal Mexican can make it across our border, find employment of some type or, for that matter, transport illegal drugs, and have nothing more happen than be sent back to his or her country of origin, then it stands to reason that a terrorist can do pretty much the same thing. So where is the security?

I've often wondered if this isn't something our government wants to happen. Nothing like a good old-fashion bombing or possible nuclear explosion to get the American people stirred up.

Not to long ago, the state of Arizona began to prosecute business owners who knowingly hired illegal Aliens. The same business owners went to federal District Court, claiming that the state could not do this. Much to their consternation, the court agreed with Arizona and said they could be prosecuted. This was a bit of a surprise to everyone, since apparently the federal government has yet to follow their own ruling, and bring charges against Hormel Foods for doing the exact same thing.

Seems that the INS pulled a raid on several Hormel packing and processing plants and arrested several hundred illegal immigrants they had hired. Yet everyone seems to be more concerned with the welfare of those arrested rather than enforcing the law.

At this rate, we'll never solve the problem of illegal immigration. We can't or won't enforce laws that are on the books, but then that seems to be our record as a nation for some time now.

What are we hoping for? Maybe that the Mexican government will disband and cede Mexico to the United States while they take everything they can and immigrate to the Bahamas or Venezuela? If you think about it for a minute, the idea does have merit. It would certainly solve the problem of NAFTA, illegal immigration and bolster the Social Security fund.

Then again, maybe not. But if they ever do, you can wax my legs and use me as a surf board.

A reader asked me to check into information that President Bush was pushing a massive foreign-aid package to Mexico to help them secure their southern border against the flow of illegal aliens from Central America.

“We can’t even get our own border straight, and we are going to provide Mexico with funding so they can solve their problem,” the reader fumed. “I doubt the Central Americans are staying very long in Mexico anyway. We know where they are going!”

Too outrageously outrageous to be true?

Well, I checked it out and it’s even worse than the reader described. Far worse.

The plan is called “The Merida Initiative.” Seems that the White House has had this plan in the works for nearly a year with little congressional input on either side of the border.

We can’t finish our own border fence, properly supply our immigration agents and border patrol with all the equipment and resources they need, or get our house in order. Yet, the Bush administration wants to fork over $1.4 billion to Mexico and Central America–with much of it going into the hands of corrupt law enforcement officials and government bureaucrats who have worked tirelessly to undermine our immigration laws. The funding is tucked into the 2008 supplemental budget.

Naturally, the State Department has taken a lead role. They’ve held meetings in secret and cut out members of Congress from discussion. You’ll love the explanation for the secrecy: Mexico is “sensitive,” you see. Also, according to one expert, “Mexico is very protective of its sovereignty and very worried about any incursion of U.S. security forces or private contractors—like Blackwater—coming in to train Mexicans.” Yeah, they’re worried about incursions and sovereignty.

Gov. Asks for Belen Project Funds Again

For the second year in a row, the Richardson administration has sought money for an Interstate 25 interchange project that is integral to a large development planned by a California firm for Belen's north edge.

The development envisions 15,000 homes along with schools, parks, community centers and industrial and office space.

The California firm planning the development— which has gone by the names RS Investments and Coast Range Investments— is a large campaign contributor to Gov. Bill Richardson and gave to the governor's

2006 re-election campaign as well as his presidential run.

J.D. Bullington, a lobbyist for the firm, confirmed Friday that the company is seeking the state capital outlay appropriation, along with the city of Belen and the state Department of Transportation.

The $3 million in state money would supplement $5 million the firm plans to spend of its own money to improve the interchange, Bullington said.

Richardson requested $4 million for the project in last year's capital outlay bill but got only $1 million.

This year's request is among the hundreds of projects listed in the Legislature's $348 million capital outlay proposal. Over the last two and a half years, officers in the California firm have given Richardson political campaign contributions and donated use of aircraft for his gubernatorial and presidential runs.

The governor's office, when contacted, declined to respond to a question about whether the firm's contributions influenced the govenor's decision to request the money.

"The governor is committed to economic development and he has consistently prioritized capital outlay funding to invest in transportation infrastructure as a way to promote a stronger economy,"

spokesman Gilbert Gallegos said.

Jim Foster, the president of RS Investments, since renamed Coast Range, made a $75,000 contribution to Richardson's 2006 re-election campaign and donated use of his personal jet to the governor for two campaign trips to California in 2006, records show.

Foster also provided the use of his four-passenger Cessna Citation jet to Richardson's presidential campaign on three dates in March 2007. The entries were listed under Foxtrot Partners, and Richardson paid Foxtrot nearly $6,000.

A company lobbyist said last year that the $4 million sought for the interchange was reduced to $1 million by lawmakers and that the lower amount was approved by Richardson.

A friend on mind put up a You Tube video called Save Not the Wolf. It show the true price of living with wolves and the destruction they cause. Reading the comments was quite telling of the Pro Wolf people. They are human haters and don't care if small family ranchers are being put of business. They believe in some Fairy Tale land and the wolf is a perfect little dog.

I mail comments to You tube asking the following. Why was the video taken down? Was it pressure from the Pro wolf side? Is this censorship? Still waiting for an answer. I search there guidelines and the following was all I could find that might cause it to be removed.

Don't post videos showing bad stuff like animal abuse, drug abuse, or bomb making.
Graphic or gratuitous violence is not allowed. If your video shows someone getting hurt, attacked, or humiliated, don't post it.
YouTube is not a shock site. Don't post gross-out videos of accidents, dead bodies and similar things.

The last bullet might be why it was taken down. It is quite shocking to see the real world of the wolves. They are vicious brutal killers. It gross to see what they do to other animals. But then Youtube has an overabundance of videos only showing the loving caring pro wolf side.

Censorship and shielding the public from the reality of living with wolves is not a community service it only further buries the truth in all the lies put out by the Pro wolf side. Rubens portrays them in considerable detail, showing the pointed nail embedded in a thick pad, and with comparable accuracy he depicts the wolfs saw-toothed maw. The special prominence that Rubens accords to these features, whose proximity to the picture plane causes the viewer instinctively to retreat to a safer zone, is more than merely a matter of characterizing the wolf according to its distinctive traits. These features intimate another consequential issue, that nature (or providence or God) endows each animal with the weaponry it needs to protect itself. Rubens illustrates this point when he shows the wolf biting down on the blade. The fang is the wolfs natural weapon, which it wields against the arms that man crafts. In this clash, fierce though it may be, man will ultimately triumph; Rubens leaves no doubt about human ascendancy, which is founded on the exclusive possession of the rational faculty. This anthropocentric position maintains that God granted man stewardship of his creation with the expectation that he would wield power wisely, benevolently, without injustice or abuse.

WOLF FACTS

It amazes me to what length the USFWS and pro-wolf non-government organizations will go to protect the Mexican Wolf. Their main objective is to give the public a false sense of security and to discredit any evidence contrary to their cause. I think all the counties in New Mexico should be aware of the fact that the Mexican wolves being released have major flaws that put our children and rural families in harms way. I have heard every excuse why the wolf was not at fault for causing damage from killing pets and livestock to causing psychological trauma (documented) to our children and rural families. I also cannot understand the position of Governor Richardson who has appointed people on our New Mexico Game commission and director that have taken the lead in wolf recovery. They have chosen to ignore the facts and present dangers to the people of Catron County and support the pro-wolf organizations without waver. Even Mr. Richardson knows our children have been damaged psychologically by wolf interaction’s, he still chooses to ignore these facts and will not inter vein to protect our children. You can bet this present scoping and NEPA proses will not have an outcome that will have any protective measures for our children and rural families. Most of the Mexican Wolves are habituated to humans and human use areas, they also lack wild wolf characteristics. Instead of fleeing when near a human, they seek them out because they lack an avoidance response and are unafraid, bold. When they expand the wolf recovery boundaries every county in the state will have wolves. You will see and live with the same type of damage that the people in Catron,Sierra, and Grant county have for ten years now. Some of you know what is coming, the rest of you will only find out when you personally have to live with the wolf. Some folks say “getting to see a wolf in the wild is the ultimate”, but the folks who live with the wolf have wolves on their front porch, have wolves killing their pets in their yards with small children present, live in constant fear for their children, pets and livestock, this is the other side of “ultimate”. Well, I can only tell you what I have seen personally and can only give you the facts attached to this comment. Un-reported/no notice wolf incidents to county by USFWS: (2) Dogs attacked by wolf resulting in injury, (1) one of these dog attacks occurred with an 8 year old child next to the dog, investigated by USFWS, two dead calf remains removed from scene by IFT member, given to WS investigator at a later date.

Complaints received:

Notification to ranchers of dead livestock located by IFT, GPS wolf locations are not made in a timely manner, complainant stated that 15 days lapsed before notification and the livestock remains were to far gone to make any confirmation of predation by wolves.

Residents with small children complaining that the USFWS/IFT members are not notifying residents when wolves are at or near their homes. They fear for the safety of their children, pets, and animals.

Livestock owner complain that SOP 26 has only delayed the wolf location information as late as three days. When they check in the area where the wolf was and found dead livestock there are little remains left and the evidence is lost so there is no confirmation.

The link above takes the reader to a story in the Denver Post about an 8 year-old boy who wants to live as a girl. His parents are 'supporting' him in his transitition. There is a story in the ADN about the Sierra Club's new initiative, LEAVE NO CHILD INSIDE. The SC wants to tax video games. From the ADN article:
"The proposal, which was developed by the Rio Grande Chapter of the Sierra Club and is being lobbied for by a coalition called "Leave No Child Inside," is to levy a new 1 percent tax on TVs, video games and game equipment sold in the state.

Money from the tax an expected $4 million annually, according to proponents will go into a fund administered by the Public Education Department and will be used (unless a future legislature diverts it) to fund outdoor programs and other programs in an effort to fight obesity and poor school performance which may result from "excessive" TV, movie and video game exposure."

I believe video games skew the reality of those who spend hours playing them. The gratuitious violence, dehumanization of opponents and social messages of video games replace religion in the home, outdoor activity, family time spent together and glamorized death and destruction. I sound like I should be for this 1 percent tax on video game stuff. I'm not. This SC tax is another attempt to protect ourselves from ourselves. I wonder how many parents know what the content of the games are their children are playing. In the 80's I bought my kids a Nintendo game. They played Super Mario Brothers and Tetras, among other games. When the head bashing blood bath games emerged on the market, the Nintendo remained, but the new more expensive, elaborate game boxes did not make it in to our home.

My kids seemed to have survived without becoming addicted to blood and gore and fantasy mutilation and ghoul wars. We ran a post on this earlier in the month. The alternativs to video gaming the SC suggests are 'green' activities. Get the kids outside and show them the benefits of wolf reintroduction, bio-sphere designation, the horrors of global warming, the self-indulgent lifestyles children live that are killing the planet and embrace environmentalism as a religion. There is one simple solution to the video game and the SC agenda. Parents. Parents spend time with your children.

There are 52 Mexican wolves that have been counted in the wild at the end of 2007, according to the annual survey conducted by the Interagency Field Team for wolf reintroduction. Surveys are completed in January of each year. Pups born in the summer must survive to December 31 before they are counted into the total Mexican wolf population. There are 29 wolves in Arizona and 23 wolves in New Mexico.

The reintroduction of the Mexican wolf is a cooperative, multi-agency effort between U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Arizona Game and Fish Department, New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, White Mountain Apache Tribe, USDA Forest Service and USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service - Wildlife Services. The agencies have established the Adaptive Management Oversight Committee (AMOC) that jointly manage the wolf reintroduction program in New Mexico and Arizona.

Fixed-wing aircraft were used to locate packs whose members are wearing radio collars. A helicopter was then used to count uncollared wolves that are associated with collared wolves in any particular packs. If a wolf needed capturing, the helicopter crew used net guns or immobilizing drugs delivered via darts. Ten wolves were captured during the census and physically examined and inoculated. Ground crews, including a veterinarian, examined the wolves and administered the following vaccines: rabies; parvovirus, parainfluenza, canine distemper, coronavirus, adenovirus type 2, and Leptospira. These vaccinations help to protect both human and domestic animals, in the recovery area, from serious contagious diseases.

The numbers are down from last year's number of 59 Mexican wolves. Altogether, 22 wolves were removed from the wild in 2007 compared to 18 the previous year; 19 for depredating livestock (this includes their seven dependent pups), two for dispersing outside the Blue Range Wolf Recovery Area and one for nuisance behavior. The alpha pair of the Durango Pack, along with a pup that would have been included in the count, went missing in November. Their disappearance is under investigation.

"Under the existing AMOC Standard Operation Procedures, we have to remove wolves that have three or more depredation incidents within a 12-month period," said Benjamin Tuggle, PhD, Regional Director for the US Fish and Wildlife Service. "The number of wolves we had to remove this past year - based on current protocols - demonstrates the need for an interdiction program that addresses the issue of depredating wolves, provides economic compensation for financial losses, and thereby allows wolves to remain on the landscape."

The fact that there were no initial releases of wolves in 2007 also affected the survey data. Although there were no new releases during the past year, there were some translocations of wolves. The number of new, or re-formed, pairs is five. One of the translocations of a female resulted in a new pair bond for the Hawks Nest pack. Three pairs formed naturally during the year and have been named Elk Mountain pack, Fox Mountain pack and the Dark Canyon Pack.
The number of official breeding pairs in the wild is four. When the number of breeding pairs is less than six, the Service does not issue permits to livestock owners for more aggressive management actions on public lands under certain conditions. Ranchers can always defend their livestock on their private land from attacking wolves.

The Service has initiated a public process to revise its rule that governs the Mexican wolf reintroduction project and will be analyzing alternatives to refine and improve reintroduction.

"With the revision of the project's governing rule that is underway, we fully expect that there will be fruitful changes made that improve the wolf reintroduction program, and will ultimately lead to greater numbers of wolves in the wild," said Tuggle.

In addition, the AMOC has been reviewing and clarifying its operating procedures to strengthen wolf reintroduction efforts. The standard procedures describe how management actions are implemented. Standard operating procedures are collaboratively developed and can be modified by the AMOC. The governing rule regulating wolf reintroduction is subject to federal rulemaking procedures.

Fish and Wildlife finishes counting Mexican gray wolves

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - There are 52 Mexican gray wolves in the wild on the New Mexico-Arizona border -- seven fewer than last year.

That's according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's just completed annual count of the animals.

The survey counted 29 wolves in Arizona and 23 in New Mexico.

The counts are done each January. In 2007, the survey found 59 wolves, about half in each state.

Twenty-two wolves were removed from the wild in 2007 -- 19 of them either for killing livestock or because they were young pups associated with a parent wolf that killed livestock.

Fish and Wildlife says two were removed for moving outside the wolves' designated range, and the other was removed for nuisance behavior.

In addition, three wolves disappeared in November.

Boy the last few days have really been discouraging as we have watched John McCain come into the lead in the Republican Primaries. Whoo weee. What does this mean to us Minuteman types? Is it all over? Have we all worked so hard for nothing? Hell, how could we possibly deal with a pro amnesty open borders president? Wait a minute, isn’t this where I came in? After a couple of days of deep confusion and depression I have come to the conclusion all this means is WE KEEP DOING WHAT WE’VE BEEN DOING, only more so. We pay way too much attention to whatever jackass is currently in the White House anyway. The secret is and always has been at the Congressional level. Want to win this fight? Then concentrate on the Congress and Senate. Start calling now and don’t quit until we win. Let them know that it is irrelevant who is elected president. There will be no amnesty. Get busy….NOW. Attend every candidate appearance and event possible. Bring signs and chants and don’t let them push this issue to the back again. There is still time with a concerted effort to push Romney in the remaining states. The illegal alien issue is the winning issue but it must be kept out in front of these politicians.So shake off the depression and get busy. Attend the protests, musters, political events, and make all the calls you can. We damn sure are not out of this fight unless we lay down and quit.

"The falcon cannot hear the falconer": The Politics of 2008

Small "r" republicans -- folks who believe in the original intent of the Founders as expressed in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States, the rule of law, free markets, private property rights and the right to keep and bear arms -- are not going to be represented in this presidential election. There is nothing new about that. What is new is that the GOP candidate will likely feel he owes absolutely nothing to the conservative base of his own party. Of course, the antipathy is mutual and many of us will not vote for him in either the primaries or the general election.

Not that McCain and the party elite think we have any choice. The Candidate's mother was doing some "straight talk" of her own a few days ago during this exchange with C-SPAN's Steve Scully.

Scully: "How much support do you think he has among the base of the Republican Party?
Roberta McCain: "I don't think he has any. I don't know what the base of . . . maybe I don't know enough about it, but I've not seen any help whatsoever."
Scully: "So can he then go on and become the nominee of this party?"
Roberta McCain: "Yes, I think holding their nose they're going to have to take him."

Well, I don't know about y'all but I ain't holding my nose while voting for GOP sellouts ever again. As Hugh Hewitt told the Associated Press, "Senator McCain is a great American, a lousy senator and a terrible Republican. He has a legislative record that is not conservative. In fact, it is anti-conservative." Dubya at least went through the motions and pretended to be one of us. McCain glories in spitting in our face and expects us to like it.

American Conservative Union Chairman David A. Keene said there's little possibility of reconciliation. "The overt hostility he has demonstrated toward conservatives as a movement and toward their leaders is one impediment," he said. Mr. Keene said that on a "half dozen issues, from taxes to the Second Amendment to the Constitution, McCain has yet to clear up his flip-flops. He claims to be a conservative, but thinks that the federal government should be used to achieve whatever is his goal of the day, even to restricting boxing. He claims he isn't, but operationally, he's a statist."

New Jersey Republican National Committeeman David Norcross, who ran the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York, said Mr. McCain's nomination will hurt the Republican Party. "Basically, he has no use for it and has no sense of what it is all about," he said. "John McCain thinks politics is all about the individual." And one other thing about John McCain that bears mentioning. He is one vindictive SOB. Arizonans who know him best say that if you cross him, he will stick it to you, even if he has to wait years to sharpen the knife. So we are expected to hand the keys to the Oval Office to this guy who despises us, who sneers at our principles, at a time when the Democrats, not the GOP, will control the House and Senate? On the altar of the false god "bipartisanship," McCain will no doubt find that there is little of our money and few of our rights that cannot be sacrificed for "the greater good."

Now some folks believe in the quixotic campaign of Ron Paul. Paul will likely end up as the best funded Libertarian candidate ever, after he finishes raising all the money he can during the GOP primary season. What this will accomplish, beyond allowing him to pitch his political points to a larger but still largely tone-deaf voting public, is beyond me. He will certainly split some of the vote with the GOP, even though many of us small "r" republicans will not vote for McCain anyway as we have had it up to here with the continual lies and sellouts over the past 14 years by the woefully misnamed "Republican" party.

The inevitable Democrat winner of the general election will see in us nothing but "domestic enemies" of their regime, and they will have the advantage of all the freedom-destroying, tyranny-enabling legislation and precedent of the Bush Administration to turn upon us. Which "terrorists" do you think Hillary will use the PATRIOT Act against?

Politically, come Inauguration Day 2009, we are going to be very, very lonely republicans.

Randall Forsyth, writing in Barrons on 22 January 2008, says "WELCOME TO THE CRASH OF 2008". Whether future historians write of a crash or not, the American recession coming down the road at us is likely to be more severe than anything we've seen in modern memory since the Great Depression. The subprime fiasco and the bursting of the credit bubble have yet to shake completely out. "Stimulus packages" and Fed rate cuts do little or nothing to address the systemic infections.

Indeed, a blogger writing at bigpicture.typepad.com calls the Fed interest rate cute of 75 basis points "a shot of penicillin to a cancer patient" demonstrating "a none-to-faint whiff of panic" by Bernanke and Co. which he believes will merely aggravate the problem in the credit markets, not settle it. We will see, say many analysts, the proof of the old dictum, first enunciated by Army General and economist Leonard P. Ayres in 1946 and more famously popularized by Robert Heinlein twenty years later in his novel The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress: "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch" which is often reduced to the acronym "TANSTAAFL":

So what will we face economically on that inauguration day of 2009? Millions are expected to be evicted from their homes by then. Foreclosures in California are reported as of the last quarter of 2007 to be up over 500% over the same period in 2006. It may be ten times that by January 2009. If the recession is a deep and a long one as seems likely, we will soon see strikes of union members broken by employers using illegals as strike-breakers. What will the Democrat pols who will be in control do then? Which of their constituencies will they side with? Both? None? And who will the unemployed and dispossessed middle class blame for their misery? How will our society, riven by competing economic interests, racial identity politics and old grievances previously papered over by affluence, how will it react to sudden impoverishment? Not well. Not well at all.

"The center cannot hold": The Rule of Law in 2010

And what scapegoats will be found to harness the natural resentments of the economically distressed? What political diversions will be deemed expedient to prevent blame from being assigned to the political mandarins? Is there a Reichstag Fire or another Oklahoma City bombing in our near future? For the rule of law, having been tattered by unpunished government misdeeds such as Waco and Ruby Ridge in the last decade of the 20th Century and shredded by the elites looking the other way on illegal immigration in this first decade of the 21st Century, is just about discredited. And there will be even more forces pulling at the essential glue of the republic around the next turn in the road.

By July, we should have a Supreme Court decision in the Heller DC gun ban case. This will tell us if the Black Robes consider us as citizens with the inalienable right to arms or as serfs who may be disarmed at will. The Bush administration, pusillanimous on the 2nd Amendment from the beginning, has now given us a brief in that case which manages to take both sides at the same time. In addition, we have agencies like the ATF who have long had a habit of ignoring law and precedent, soaring to even greater heights of bureaucratic misdeeds, framing law-abiding gun owners whose weapons accidentally malfunction on charges of making and transferring illegal machine guns. And when the majority of the population comes to the conclusion that we no longer are governed by the rule of law, but by the whims of men; when we begin to believe that we can no longer expect a fair trail and that the law no longer protects the innocent; then some of us are going to conclude that the law no longer protects our oppressors (who act under color of law) either. We will be, as Yeats put it:

Sinn Féin is an Irish-language phrase whose literal translation is "ourselves" or "we ourselves," but is most often rendered in English as "Ourselves alone." A political slogan used by Irish nationalists in the late 19th and early 20th century, it advocated Irish national self-reliance, expressed the yearning for an independent Irish republic and even included the revival of the Irish language. Its earliest use was to describe individual political radicals unconnected with any party but who shared the dream of Irish independence and republicanism.

Does that not now describe us small "r" republicans of the present-day American republic? We find ourselves at the end of this first decade of the 21st Century faced with the uncomfortable reality of becoming a despised and oppressed minority in our own country, unrepresented by any party. We are thus bereft because we (and our principles) have been sold out by both major parties. We didn't leave them, they left us. And in the process, they also turned their backs on the oaths they took to uphold and defend the Constitution. They did. We didn't. And where does that leave us? On whom may we rely for our future liberty and safety? Why on ourselves, alone.

We should not, at this juncture, worry about forming a political party of our own. Whatever effort we expend in that direction (and I know this will be instantly rejected by the Libertarian and Constitution party loyalists as well as the Paul supporters of all stripes) will be ineffective, swamped by the tidal wave of history which is about to engulf us. Our enemies (that is to say the enemies of the Founders' republic) will have the whip hand at national politics for the foreseeable future. What we have to do is to make arrangements ahead of time to give them pause and make them find reasons to stay that whip hand, lest they lose it.

The first imperative for all of us, ourselves alone, is to recognize that each of us has a piece of the overall picture and to begin making practical alliances that strengthen and protect us all. Entrepreneurs, home schoolers, gun rights advocates, tax reformers, Internet free speechers, Minutemen, libertarians, Christians, fully informed jury and common law advocates -- all have allowed themselves to be divided by little things when it is the big things that threaten us all. For example, most Libertarians differ with Christians on the sanctity of life, but they can certainly agree that the Bill of Rights guarantees the rights of all to speak without being strangled by leftist "hate speech" codes.

In a period of economic hardship, societal breakdown and political repression, we can overcome our individual weaknesses and mold our individual strengths into common bonds that protect us -- bartering skill for skill, farm produce for community security, and above all, realizing a common determination that protecting the rights of individuals is the best guarantor of the rights of all. Collectivists, including government bureaucrats and street gang leaders, are individual cowards when confronted by free people who refuse to be victims and who are numerous enough, organized enough and well armed enough at the point of contact to make the bureaucrat (or the street gang leader) doubt that they can accomplish their depredation without cost to themselves.

We have more power on the local and state levels than we know. Certainly our enemies fear us or they would not have been seeking to disarm us these past 40 years. Once we are able to stand up, ourselves alone, and survive the coming challenges to our liberty and property, we may be ready for a political party to consolidate our demands for a revived American republic and a restored Constitutional rule of law. Until then, we should abandon national politics that we are fated by events to lose and put all our efforts into standing together on a local and state level, counting only on ourselves alone to maintain our liberty and property. The GOP can go the way of the Whigs, or to the Devil, whichever suits them. To paraphrase the Mexican bandit leader in Treasure of the Sierra Madre, "We don't need no stinking national party buttons."

It will not be easy or pretty, but with faith in God and the help of our fellow American citizens, we can prevail. We have only to look to ourselves alone for our security and not to the false promises of the rigged game of national politics.

A vast intelligence program is to establish a global biometric database known as "Server in the Sky" that will collate and provide an " International Information Consortium" with access to the biometric measurements and personal information of citizens of the US, UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand in the name of fighting the "war on terror".
As reported by the London Guardian, he plan is being formulated by the FBI with the cooperation of the home offices and law enforcement agencies of American allies.

Biometric measurements, irises or palm prints as well as fingerprints, and other personal information are likely to be exchanged across the network.

The FBI told the Guardian: "Server in the Sky is an FBI initiative designed to foster the advanced search and exchange of biometric information on a global scale. While it is currently in the concept and design stages, once complete it will provide a technical forum for member nations to submit biometric search requests to other nations. It will maintain a core holding of the world's 'worst of the worst' individuals. Any identifications of these people will be sent as a priority message to the requesting nation."

Of course as well as holding the information of the world's 'worst of the worst', the database will also eventually hold the records of every other citizen who has ever traveled in and out of the member states, or has ever been arrested with or without charge.

Britain's National Policing Improvement Agency has been the lead body for the FBI project because it is responsible for IDENT1, the UK database holding 7m sets of fingerprints and other biometric details used by police forces to search for matches from scenes of crimes. Many of the prints are either from a person with no criminal record, or have yet to be matched to a named individual.

Any non national now entering the US must provide an Iris scan and ten fingerprints. This week has also seen Britain enact legislation ensuring that anyone applying for a visa from 133 countries covering three quarters of the world’s population now has their fingerprints checked against UK databases.

Police in Britain also hold vastly more DNA samples than any other country in the Western world, and many are from people who have never committed a crime. More than three million samples have been added to the national DNA database - more than 5 per cent of the population, and this is rising exponentially.

We have previously noted that the vast array of databases currently being employed by intelligence agencies, government and law enforcement agencies worldwide were designed to be linked together in a system which will tie in the management and control of all facets of life for citizens to one central hub.

The Guardian report on "Server in the Sky" further notes

IDENT1 was built by the computer technology arm of the US defence company Northrop Grumman. In future it is expected to hold palm prints, facial images and video sequences. A company spokeswoman confirmed that Northrop Grumman had spoken to the FBI about Server in the Sky. "It can run independently but if existing systems are connected up to it then the intelligence agencies would have to approve," she said.

The component systems have been designed by the military industrial complex to strengthen and perpetuate its own existence.

The news of the global database network dovetails with announcement that US National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell is drawing up plans for cyberspace spying that would make the current debate on warrantless wiretaps look like a "walk in the park".

The plan would mean giving the government the authority to examine the content of any e-mail, file transfer or Web search.

Last month it was revealed that another military spy agency, the NSA has increasing control over SSL, now called Transport Layer Security, the cryptographic protocol that provides secure communications on the internet for web browsing, e-mail, instant messaging, and other data transfers.

In other words the agency is capable of intercepting and reading your emails and instant messages in real time.

At the same time a lawyer for an AT&T engineer went public with claims that "within two weeks of taking office, the Bush administration was planning a comprehensive effort of spying on Americans’ phone usage.” That is BEFORE 9/11, before the nation was embroiled in the freedom stripping exercise commonly known as the "war on terror" had even begun.

This swell of surveillance activity was also enhanced with news that Department of Homeland security is forging ahead and finalizing plans to use a network of spy satellites for domestic surveillance. The DHS plans to create a new department branch called the National Applications Office to oversee the program and be responsible for providing images from the satellites to non military law enforcement agencies.

After 9/11 the work of 16 different intelligence agencies, including the CIA and the giant National Security Agency, which eavesdrops on international communications, as well as the Energy Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration was centralized under the office of the Director of National Intelligence.

The Canadian Gray Wolf was “re-introduced” into Idaho as an “experiment” in 1996. The USF&W stated goal was to reach a viable population level of 100 wolves, which was reached in early 2000. However, wolves have been allowed to multiply and currently number well over 1000 in the state of Idaho alone. Each wolf is responsible for killing 3 to 4 elk per month.

Wolves in Idaho are responsible for killing over 30,000 elk annually and are reproducing at an alarming rate of 30% annually. Our Idaho Elk and Mountain Ungulates cannot possibly survive this predator on-slot. To stave off this wolf caused genocide on our elk and other mountain ungulates, we must implement the strict wolf population control measures that are mandated in our “Initiative Petition Related to Wolf Regulation in the State of Idaho.”

Environmentalist and Wolf advocate groups, primarily headquartered on the east coast, have filed lawsuits challenging proposed Canadian Gray Wolf Delisting and population control. These same groups have vowed to continue to use lawsuits to de-rail all future attempts to Delist Wolves and to stop States from implementing approved Wolf Management Plans. Jon Rachael, regional manager for Idaho Fish &Game, recently announced that he “expects environmentalists’ lawsuits over Idaho’s management plan will delay legal wolf hunts for the foreseeable future.”

Our Governments failed wolf “Experiment” has now turned into an environmental nightmare. A “top-tier” predator has been released into our Idaho wilderness and is literally wiping out our Idaho Elk and ungulate herds. The mismanagement of this failed program has left the “gate wide open” for every conceivable pro-wolf advocate group to challenge wolf de-listing and wolf management plans through our liberal court system for many years to come.

Lawsuits will result in court ordered injunctions. Delisting will not occur and there will be no Idaho, Montana or Wyoming Management plans implemented to control wolves for the foreseeable future. The passage of this Ballot initiative is the only hope the citizens of Idaho have to “Save Our Elk” and Mountain ungulates.

In the middle of a blinding snowstorm on Jan. 30, the Mexican Wolf Adaptive Management Working Group (AMWG), public information meeting was held in Pinetop Arizona. As the only livestock industry representative to attend, this article is to inform the remainder of the industry of changes and updates to the program especially in light of the open National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process currently in place to change the rule (the law) the program is operating under. "

An alternative to Wilderness Areas includes:

1. retention of open space (permanently),
2. provisions for the allowance of growth,
3. unrestricted allowance of law enforcement and Homeland Security actions,
4. prevention of unlawful off-highway activity,
5. continued access for all citizens to federal lands,
6. perpetuation of ranching activities,
7. access to flood control and water capture projects,
8. enhancement of wildlife and rangeland health, and;
9. the adherence to the true fidelity of wilderness concepts and laws.

Last week I purchased a burger $1.58. The counter girl took my $2 and I was digging for my change when I pulled 8 cents from my pocket and gave it to her. She stood there, holding the nickel and 3 pennies, while looking at the screen on her register. I sensed her discomfort and tried to tell her to just give me two quarters, but she hailed the manager for help. While he tried to explain the transaction to her, she stood there and cried.
